Christmas in Honduras 2006--The Preschool and Kindergarten Classes in the Christmas Program

These are pictures of the preschool and kindergarten classes in the school-wide Christmas program. They performed the traditional Christmas drama of the nativity while a first-grader read the script in Spanish. This first grader was in my kindergarten English class last year and he has an amazing ability to read very well in both English and Spanish at such a young age! The students' costumes were incredibly beautiful...I'm not sure who made them...probably the parents or a friend(s) of the Honduran director. After the drama, the students sang two Christmas songs in English that I had taught them. They sang the first part of the songs "Joy to the World" and "Angels We Have Heard on High". It was not easy for the small children to learn these songs in English...we practiced a lot! But, they did very well during the program. The last song they sang was "Un Mundo de Colores" in Spanish. We were all very proud of our young performers!

Christmas in Honduras 2006--Third Grade Christmas Party

These are pictures of the third grade Christmas party that was held at my house. The students decorated cookies, strung popcorn, had a secret friend gift exchange, ate pizza, roasted marshmellows, played games, watched the "Narnia" movie, and basically had a lot of fun! They had been soo excited about the party for months and had talked about it all the time. They couldn't wait! I also invited the other two third grade teachers to help out (I only teach science to the third graders). One Honduran teacher is the Spanish teacher and the other Honduran teacher is the English teacher. I think everyone enjoyed themselves!
